Notice posted this morning by the ranger

Ranger posted this by the freq post this morning.

Information I gathered from talking to him, this will involve the moving of the lower left parking lot into the valley thus cutting off the whole left side of the valley. Flyable airspace would be reduced by about 1/3.

There was also talk of moving the flight line closer to the edge and possibly paving a landing strip close to the edge so we can see down the edge to make sure we don't fly over the new parking lot.

There will be a restriction on the number of aircraft allowed in the air at any 1 time as well as a speed limit.

I don't know when they will implement these changes but I'm guessing they will tell us at the meeting.

This is to create a water detention area to protect the houses around the area from floods.

Also attached is a pdf posted by Dave Lewis over on the RSA Yahoo group regarding the project.

Thanks for the heads up Vincent.

I like the idea of a paved strip... as for the cutting of available airspace.. I compared the PDF to the google maps image of Rancho, it looks like its only gonna move a little up the hill and then hook right into the meadow. If we just change the landing approach we currently use to be more left, we should be ok... If I am reading the diagram right...
"I love it when a plan comes together..." much like my RC plane kits =)

I like the limit of planes up at a time and speed limit.
Not sure how they will enforce it though.

That's for the creek drainage thing.. but that cuts into the parking lot so they have to move that.

I don't think that speed or planes up will be limited only because of enforcement issues.
The good news to me is that we still have some space to fly.

Saw this posting this morning too- got a bit clearer shot. I think it's very important several of us attend the meeting to see what it going on and make sure our concerns are heard. There aren't a ton of flying spaces to go to if Rancho is shut down for us. This was posted by the bathrooms way down the hill. I didn't see one on the frequency board.

I saw it posted on the frequency on Saturday. Someone must have removed it.

Heard a lot of talk about this on RSA yahoo group. The idea of AMA involvement doesn't seem too bad.
But it doesn't look too promising for bigger EDFs and pocket rockets
