Hello Harry !.

Have you decided what type of aircraft that yourself and your Uncle are going to scratch build ?.
What types of materials do you intend to use, and plans if any ?.
It would be great if you could start a build thread on this project !.

Hey,
We were thinking about scratch-building a Hercules C-130. My dad and I went to Home Depot and picked up some insulation foam (not sure if that's the right stuff to use?). Found some plans online but they're pretty difficult to understand. I was doing some research and I found this kit on eBay for $109: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GWS-C-130-Hercu ... 628wt_1163
I was thinking that if I get this kit, I'll have more experience for when I scratch-build a plane. So I'm probably just going to order the kit. Let me know what you guys think ,

Hello Harry.

I was waiting for a responce as well. Now that a few days have elapsed, I will feild out your questions. Their are a number of pilots that have built some very nice aircraft from the type of foam you purchased, Its easy to use and cheap. I think its up to you to pick the design that warrents using this material be able to make a nice project out of it.I havent used this type of foam, but a few pilots at Baylands park have, and can share their buildings methods with you.

I have one of the GWS 130 airplanes and it flys like a dream. It has the stock brushed motors and a 2s 2100 lipo pack. The motors provide more power than I need to be able to fly around in a scale manner. Mine is painted in the coast guard scheme and is a fun airplane. It does not like to fly slowly !. It has a very narrow wing and needs to keep moving, so be prepared for this.

Thank you for asking us about your up and coming projects Harry.

Anyone else ?.

After I get the kit, I'm thinking instead of making a scratch-built C-130, I'll make a B-29. It's a good looking plane! :)

Welcome to the world of fixed wing aircraft.
The Super cub is good and so are some of the pusher power planes infact I would say they may be a little better due to the placement of the prop is out of the way for harder landings.
Bixle O or 1.1 even the Bixler 2, AXM Sky Hawlk, and many more to choose from.
I hope this helped more than confused you.
Good luck.
