The old cork screw--but why???

Postby waxxer » Mon Oct 17, 2011 12:25 pm

I have a relatively new Airfield P 51. I bent the shaft my last attempt to fly this bird. So I managed to locate the right propshaft and reassembled to fly again except without the spinner. It was permanently trashed the last time the plane went chasing after a Gopher.

So off I go to fly. The plane leaves the terra firma and instantly rolls to the right and augurs into the ground. No gophers this time so it must have been me. I was flying off of asphault with little if any wind. So the pavement rashed the plane bad enough that I am now lacking the confidence to go try again.

All surfaces are straight and controls work properly. I dont understand why this bird goes inverted the second it gets off the ground. This thing does not create enough motor torque to tip it--am I wrong?? Anyone want to meet at Rancho and help save this bird from total destruction?? Paying 6 dollars to fly for 30 seconds at baylands add insult to injury.

Let me know. Thanks in advance,

Brian

Hey Brian,

Is the motor mount still solidly pointing in the correct direction?
