Micro Jack/Electrical Question

Postby cktasto » Sun May 09, 2004 8:31 pm

Hi Guys, I am looking at the instructions for building a Micro Jack and the specifications indicate that its best for 2 servo systems. It goes on to specify 1amp at 6vdc.

I am planning on running 4 servos ( two D-60s in the wings, and two JR-241 in the fuse). I tried to look up the current draw of these two servo but could not find any info. Do I have a problem?

Hi Kirk, thanks for the links. They really provide some good information and diagrams. I am hoping someone will be able to enlighten me on how much current servo typically draw. The spec says a maximum of 1A. at 6Vdc. So what I think I need to know is how much Amps does a typical servo draw? I 've looked at cut sheets for servos but havent seen anything about the draw they put on a battery.

Any ideas?

Charlie, I remember testing out my servos (VOLZ WING MAX) to see how much current they would draw, when the sticks are moving constantly in full deflections they were drawing about .22 amps. If you had 2 servos I would double that, and so on.:)

Thanks Paul, thats kinda what I am looking for. Any idea if the Volz servos are "pigs" as far as power consumption, or are they middle of the road?

Charlie, I posted some information here http://www.bayrc.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=692 . I think with 2 D-60's and 2 JR 241's you will be fine. Denny recommended those servos, didn't he. He told me the same thing.

No, the VOLZ servos aren't pigs.

I love this internet thing. I had a question yesterday, and today I've got exactly the data I was looking for.

Thanks everybody for the help. The XP-4 keeps getting closer!!

BTW, just preliminary data to this point but the XP-4 looks like it may be a bit on the heavy side compared to the Encore.
