But where in the launch phase did it go bad? Did you have an opposite preset or something, or did you just point it at the ground when you let go?

After it crashed I closely checked the position of the switches on my Stylus. The elevator preset switch was in the negative incidence position. The launch was "normal" albeit perhaps harder than I usually throw it but with the negative incidence it went straight into the ground...hard. The nose was buried in the grass up to the leading edge of the panel that was still attached and it took some effort to yank it out. I use the negative incidence switch pretty infrequently (launching in very windy conditions for example) and will make all positions neutral in the future. I suspect that the repairs will add around 8 grams of wieght which should still keep the model under 11oz.

WOW!...............it looks like you ripped the wing right off! I guess you must have been eating your wheaties that morning. Sorry to see that this happened, but I am sure you will have it back in the air soon.

I would inh that negative incident switch, if I were you. My suggestion for windy days would be to lower you leading edge on your stab, and on calm days (no wind) raise your leading edge on the stab. I use 1/16" ply for shims and place them between the stab mount and the elev if needed. Give it a try and let me know what you think?
