BayRC Profiles: AeroMicro

For over thirty years Perry Lee has had a passion for flying remote-controlled aircraft. In 2001, Perry turned that passion into a business and AeroMicro was born. Supplying his local flying buddies with props, batteries, servos, kits and supplies from the trunk of his car and website, Perry had found his niche. The small but growing electric R/C market seemed to really get some traction in 2003 when Perry leased a 1700 square foot store in Cupertino. Only a very small portion of this space was dedicated to serving the walk-in customer as the bulk of AeroMicro's business was generated by Internet sales. The store hours were limited and the space was small and at times the customers stood shoulder to shoulder in the tiny showroom.

Perry's reputation for catering specifically to the needs of the electric R/C aircraft enthusiast, coupled with his knowledge of the ever changing technology in this area, had garnered AeroMicro a growing clientele. In 2006, AeroMicro was relocated to a 5000 square foot building in Santa Clara. This spacious showroom now displays an impressive array of R/C products and supplies. Awarded "Best place for really small planes" by Metro in their Best of Silicon Valley 2007 edition, AeroMicro was recognized for their dedication to R/C aircraft and having a friendly and knowledgable staff.

It's staff members like Don McCullough that help customers understand the bewildering number of options and choices one makes in this hobby. Don, a veteran R/C pilot and modeler, started flying planes in 1961. He can be found eagerly sharing his knowledge and helping customers on a daily basis at AeroMicro. Whether it's Don, Perry, David or Norio behind the counter, it's obvious that the staff at AeroMicro is there to help customers find exactly what they need to keep or get their aircraft flying.
